De'Vine Escape is approximately 1 to 2 minutes by car from Fergusson Winery, or around 5 to 8 minutes on foot. For a wedding held there, that proximity solves most of the logistics before you start.
Fergusson Winery in Dixons Creek is one of the long-standing wedding venues in the Yarra Valley. It works as a ceremony and reception site, and it sits roughly an hour from Melbourne. The complication for most couples is not the venue. It is where fifty or eighty people sleep afterwards.
Why the walk matters more than you think
Yarra Valley weddings tend to involve guests who have driven out from the city and who intend to drink local wine. Accommodation within walking distance changes the whole evening. Nobody is counting drinks, nobody is arranging a designated driver, and nobody is booking taxis that may take a while to reach Dixons Creek at eleven at night.
De'Vine Escape is the closest accommodation of its size to Fergusson. The walk is along Wills Road and the Melba Highway and takes most people under ten minutes.
What is actually available
There are 22 rooms on the property: 3 Queen Rooms, 3 King Spa Rooms and 16 Twin Rooms. In practice that means:
- The Twin Rooms are the workhorses for a wedding. Two queen beds each, which suits friends sharing, siblings, or a couple with older children.
- The Queen and King Spa Rooms are the ones couples tend to want for themselves or for parents. There are only three of each, so they go first.
- Taking the whole property is possible. Twenty-two rooms covers a substantial wedding party.
The practical details that come up every time
Arrival times
Wedding guests never arrive together. Some come up the day before, some drive out an hour before the ceremony, and some turn up after the reception has already started. Self check-in means late arrivals are not a problem and nobody needs to wait at a reception desk.
Early check-in
Getting ready on site is a common request. Early check-in may be arranged for selected rooms, subject to availability. We cannot promise it for a whole group, so tell us early which rooms matter and we will do what we can.
Parking
Free on-site parking, and enough of it that cars left overnight after the reception are not a problem.
Pets
We are pet-friendly. If a guest is bringing a dog, let us know in advance so we can prepare the right room. A pet cleaning fee applies, typically $30 per pet.
How to book it
Group accommodation is quoted rather than booked room by room. Send us the wedding date and roughly how many rooms you need, and we will come back with a tailored quote. A $300 deposit secures the booking and goes directly toward your total accommodation cost. It is not an additional charge.
Bookings can be adjusted up to 14 days before arrival, subject to availability. If the booking drops below 5 rooms the group rate no longer applies. Full group cancellations need at least 30 days' notice.
